ALL-NEW TOYOTA HIACE DELIVERS THE GOODS

** All-new design and advanced features for greater driver convenience, functionality and safety **
** New efficient engines, superior driving dynamics and refined comfort **
** Versatile and easy-to-load cargo space offers up to 9.3 cubic metre capacity **

Toyota has launched an all-new HiAce range of vans that delivers vast improvements in driver comfort, performance, safety and functionality with the same expansive carrying capacity as its predecessor.

As the first new HiAce in 15 years, it has been completely redesigned with a new semi-bonneted configuration to more than meet the needs of commercial, private, corporate and fleet buyers.

Sitting on a substantially longer and wider all-new platform, the new HiAce combines efficient new turbodiesel and V6 petrol engines that deliver more power, refinement and driveability, the latest suite of Toyota Safety Sense features and a redesigned cabin with improved ergonomics for greater driver comfort and convenience.

Toyota Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley said every aspect of the all-new HiAce has been designed to appeal to owners who often spend long days behind the wheel.

"We focused on making the new-generation vehicle an even better tool of trade through an all-new semi-bonneted design, increased performance, a quiet cabin, smooth ride and improved handling and agility," Mr Hanley said.

"Its impressive carrying capacity is even more flexible and user-friendly with increased internal width, and increased height on LWB versions, and dual sliding side doors on van models which, for the SLWB variants, can take a standard Australian pallet.

"We are also providing HiAce customers with the same high level of safety as found in our passenger cars and SUVs with a full suite of advanced Toyota Safety Sense technologies," Mr Hanley said.

The new HiAce is offered in a choice of nine variants to cater to a diverse variety of users.

Van versions are available in long wheelbase (LWB) and super long wheelbase (SLWB) variants with a choice of new turbodiesel and petrol engines, manual (LWB-only) or automatic transmissions and two-seat or five-seat capacity.

Priced from $38,6401, the HiAce range kicks off with the LWB van with the option of a 207kW 3.5-litre V6 petrol or 130kW 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine and six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The new V6 petrol engine provides a huge increase in power and torque compared to the previous model's four-cylinder unit with peak power boosted by 89kW while peak torque is increased by 108Nm to 351Nm.

Although total capacity for the new turbodiesel engine has been slightly reduced, it too offers more peak power and torque with an increase of up to 30kW and up to 150Nm compared with its 3.0-litre predecessor.

At the same time, official combined cycle fuel consumption for turbodiesel variants has been cut by up to 8.7 per cent - thanks in part to a new stop/start system - with the manual LWB turbodiesel van variant returning a figure of just 7.5l/100km2.

Both new engines are also far more refined than their predecessors and are offered in the SLWB van variants as well, mated to the automatic transmission.

Toyota is also offering a LWB crew van that adds a second row of seats enabling it to carry up to four passengers and driver and is available exclusively with the turbodiesel engine driving the rear wheels through the six-speed automatic transmission.

For carrying passengers rather than cargo, the new HiAce lineup also includes the 12-seat Commuter model that is available in two grades with both powered by the turbodiesel/automatic transmission powertrain.

The range-topping Commuter GL is a stylish small bus that offers prestige features including power sliding side door, front and rear air conditioning, six rear USB charge outlets, eight reading lights, premium upholstery and 16-inch alloy wheels.

With the new semi-bonneted design, Toyota has been able to move the engine forward ahead of the front axle and seats providing easier access to the engine bay, improved safety and greater stability and ride comfort.

The LWB variants are 570mm longer and SLWB versions 535mm longer than the previous generation models, which together with clever packaging and a substantially wider (up to 215mm) interior space, ensures they maintain large cargo capacities of 6.2 cubic metres and 9.3 cubic metres respectively.

The new design has also delivered substantial improvements in driver comfort with easier access to the cabin, a lower seating position and completely redesigned dash that provides significant ergonomic advantages.

All models feature height-adjustable driver's seat, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel with controls for the audio, infotainment and cruise control systems, manual air conditioning and extensive storage areas with big front door bins and 1.5-litre bottle holders.

To ensure drivers are fully connected at all times while out on the road, the HiAce features the latest generation multimedia system with a large 7-inch touchscreen display. It offers AM/FM/DAB+3 radio, CD player, full Bluetooth®4 connectivity for audio and phone, USB and AUX inputs, satellite navigation5 with SUNA™ live traffic alerts6, and voice recognition, Siri®7 eyes-free for compatible iPhones®7 and Toyota Link8 apps.

Available from the fourth quarter this year, the new HiAce multimedia system will also be compatible with Apple CarPlay®7 and Android®9 Auto that will also be offered to retro-fit on new generation HiAce at no additional charge.

In addition to designing the cabin around the driver, Toyota has also focussed heavily on improving safety in the new HiAce which features a broad range of Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance features.

These include a pre-collision safety system with pedestrian and daytime cyclist detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, road sign assist (certain speed signs only) and auto high beam.

Further standard safety features include cruise control, anti-lock brakes, vehicle stability control, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors and up to nine airbags depending on the model.

To help deliver low whole-of-life costs, the new HiAce is covered by the Toyota Service Advantage10 that offers capped price servicing for three years or 60,000km, whichever comes first, up to a maximum of six services.

Service intervals for all HiAce and Commuter models are six months/10,000km and for turbodiesel versions, the cost is capped at $240 per service or just $180 for petrol variants.

Like all new Toyota vehicles, the new HiAce will also be covered by the five-year Toyota Warranty Advantage11.

ALL-NEW HIACE DELIVERS SPACIOUS AND STYLISH DESIGN

** New semi-bonneted design offers improved safety, driveability and practicality **
** Both LWB and SLWB models are longer and wider sitting on a larger wheelbase **
** Stylish, contemporary design to appeal to commercial and private buyers **

Toyota’s all-new HiAce has been dramatically transformed with a semi-bonneted design that delivers vastly improved practicality and driving characteristics while still maintaining a large cargo capacity.

Much more than a “box on wheels” the new HiAce offers a stylish design to appeal to both commercial and private buyers with the semi-bonneted design providing easier access to the engine bay, improved safety and greater stability and ride comfort.

The new design has enabled Toyota to move the engine forward ahead of the front axle and seats compared with the previous model where the engine sat under the front seats directly above the front axle.

Both long wheelbase (LWB Van and Crew Van) and super long wheelbase (SLWB Van and Commuter bus) models are wider and significantly longer than the previous model.

Measuring 5265mm in length, the new HiAce LWB models are 570mm longer than the previous equivalent model and sit on a wheelbase that has been extended by 640mm to 3210mm.

HiAce SLWB models are 535mm longer than the previous generation sitting on a 750mm longer wheelbase that measures 3860mm.

To further improve ride and handling performance, front and rear tracks are also wider with both versions sharing a 1670mm front and rear track – an increase of 200mm at the front and 205mm at the rear for LWB models and 15mm at the front and 20mm at the rear in SLWB variants.

Both wheelbase versions are 1950mm wide overall – an increase of 255mm for the LWB variants and 70mm for SLWB models.

Overall height is similar to the previous model HiAce with the LWB versions being 10mm higher at 1990mm and the SLWB Van and Commuter sitting 5mm lower at 2280mm.

The front end offers bold visual appeal that emphasises the robust working nature of the new HiAce.

The wide track gives it a planted presence on the road while the solid sides of the front bumper that sweep into the grille have been purposely rounded off to improve manoeuvrability in tight city spaces.

The design of the halogen headlights matches the three-dimensional look of the semi-bonneted front end providing a contemporary aesthetic with the Commuter GL model distinguished by vertical LED daytime running lights neatly integrated into the outer edges of the bumper.

In side profile, the new HiAce delivers a clean, strong, dynamic look courtesy of the longer front end and shape of the windows while the 16-inch steel wheels (16-inch alloys for the Commuter GL) fill the wheel arches.

All Van models feature dual sliding rear doors with a fixed glass panel for the passenger side door.

The rear sliding doors for the SLWB Van have been extended by 70mm to be able to accommodate a standard Australian pallet (1165mm x 1165mm).

To ensure the safety of passengers, Commuter models have a single rear sliding door with the Commuter GL variant offering a power-operated rear sliding door.

Large, retractable, heated and electrically adjustable exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals provide excellent rearward visibility with SLWB versions featuring an extra mirror section at the base for downward visibility, enabling the driver to see the area around the rear wheels.

At the rear, a thick lower bumper and wide square tailgate flanked by vertical halogen combination lamps complete the solid look while emphasising the large capacity of the load space.

In addition to giving the new HiAce a more stylish look, the all-new design also aids aerodynamics that are further enhanced by the raked windscreen and side mouldings, chamfered rear corners and five stabilising fins on the side of the rear lamps to improve fuel efficiency.

The new HiAce is available in a choice of four colours1, including a solid French Vanilla paint for all models and a Quicksilver mica2 finish on selected variants (not available on Commuter).

The top-of-the-range Commuter GL is also available in light Blue Armour and Goldrush metallic2 finishes with Goldrush available as part of the option pack for the turbo diesel SLWB Van as well.

HIACE INTERIOR DESIGNED FOR DRIVERS IN FORM AND FUNCTION

** Driver environment offers more comfort, features and improved ergonomics **
** Wider and taller load space offers 6.2m3 capacity for LWB vans **
** Longer cabin offers more rear passenger space for 12-seat Commuter **

Toyota has transformed its all-new HiAce as dramatically on the inside as it has on the outside, offering a vastly improved driver environment, advanced comfort and convenience features and a more functional and practical load space.

Thanks to the new semi-bonneted design that has allowed the engine to be moved forward of the front axle, the cabin is immediately a more comfortable, functional and user-friendly space for the driver and front passenger.

Light, bright materials and textures, a broad expansive dash and lowered beltline providing larger glass areas give the cabin a bright open and airy ambience.

All controls, switchgear and instrumentation have been designed for easy ergonomic use and clear visibility.

The new leather-accented, three-spoke steering wheel provides integrated controls for audio, cruise control, lane departure alert, phone and infotainment functions and offers tilt and telescopic adjustment for the optimum driving position.

A dash-mounted transmission shift lever falls easily to hand also helping to reduce driver fatigue for those users who spend long days behind the wheel.

The instrument cluster includes a newly-designed combination meter with a tachometer and speedometer flanking a central 4.2-inch multi information display (MID) that provides the driver with various audio, phone, navigation and vehicle setting information.

The centre console features a pair of 12-volt DC power sockets and three manual dial controls for the standard air conditioning, sitting below a large 7-inch touchscreen for the new multimedia system.

Commuter models gain an additional two controls for heating and cooling that is delivered to rear passengers via individual vents for each seat position.

HiAce keeps you connected
All van and commuter models in the new HiAce range feature Toyota's latest generation multimedia system that can be controlled via the steering wheel controls or the touchscreen display that offers an enhanced screen interface enabling pinch, swipe and flick gestures.

The advanced multimedia system incorporates AM/FM/DAB+1 radio, USB and Aux inputs, full Bluetooth®2 connectivity, satellite navigation3 with SUNAÔ live traffic alerts4, voice recognition, and Toyota Link5 apps including weather, fuel finder and travel times6.

From the fourth quarter of this year, all HiAce variants will also come standard with Apple CarPlay®7 and Android® Auto compatibility, with the feature available to be retro-fitted to vehicles delivered before that time at no additional cost.

A number of functions have been improved with voice recognition now offering a broader range of commands including the ability to set an address while driving and option to search through local points of interest by business name or category.

Other new applications include Siri®7 eyes-free mode for iPhones® and Miracast™, which can allow compatible smartphone screens to be duplicated onto the touchscreen.

Delivering high quality sound are two front-mounted 160mm speakers with an additional two rear 65mm speakers behind the front seats for the Commuter and two more 100mm speakers in the rear of the Commuter GL model.

Comfort and convenience for all
To ensure optimum comfort, the new HiAce features completely redesigned seats finished in a high-quality, durable fabric upholstery.

The new seats are more shapely with thicker cushioning for improved comfort and support with the driver seat in all models now offering six-way adjustment for height, slide and recline.

The LWB Crew Van also offers a second row bench seat for three occupants with a reclining, folding 60/40-split seat back, three integrated head rests and ISOFIX anchors for child safety seats in the two outboard positions.

Both Commuter models provide seating for up to 12 with the rear 10 seats set in a configuration of four rows of double seats behind the driver and two rows of single seats behind the front passenger.

Total rear passenger space in Commuter models has been lengthened by 90mm, which together with thinner seat backs, provides increased rear knee-room and foot-space.

By making the rear glasshouse more upright, rear passengers also benefit from improved head clearance while 20mm taller windows provide a more open, brighter atmosphere.

All seats in the Commuter models offer 12-degree reclining seat backs with integrated headrests while the premium seats in the Commuter GL are upholstered in a combination of synthetic leather and fabric.

The rear seats in the GL model also feature a seat pocket, cupholder and coat hook integrated into the seat back with passengers benefitting from eight reading lights, six USB charge outlets and independent controls for the rear air conditioning.

Loaded up for all uses
HiAce van models also take advantage of the improved packaging and longer overall length with LWB variants offering a total cargo capacity of 6.2 cubic metres.

Although the cargo space length from the inside of the rear hatch to the back of the front seats has been reduced by 470mm in LWB van variants to 2530mm, the interior height has risen by 5mm to 1340mm.

All LWB and SLWB van models also benefit from a huge increase in interior width of up to 215mm to 1760mm, with a 148mm increase in space between the wheel housings offering a clear load width of 1268mm.

The SLWB van models offer a total capacity 9.3 cubic metres with a cargo space length of 3180mm.

All van models provide additional storage throughout the cabin with large front door bins with 1.5 litre bottle holders, dash-mounted driver and front passenger cupholders and overhead sunglass storage.

HiAce SLWB models gain a large overhead tray as well while the LWB Crew Van also features a large centre console tray between the front seats.

TOYOTA HIACE OFFERS CLASS-LEADING SAFETY TECHNOLOGIES

** New semi-bonneted design helps deliver five-star ANCAP safety rating **
** Toyota Safety Sense features offer advanced driver assistance **
** Seven airbags and rear-view camera standard on all van models **

The all-new Toyota HiAce offers class-leading safety with a five-star ANCAP safety rating and host of advanced Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance technologies standard across the entire model range.

With many customers in the corporate, business and fleet industries, improving  safety was a major priority for Toyota in the development of the new HiAce, starting with the move to a semi-bonneted design.

Compared with the previous generation cab-over design, the new model moves the driver well behind the front axle and engine providing a much greater distance to the front of the vehicle allowing for substantially increased crumple zones.

Complementing the new design and offering extremely high levels of driver assistance and occupant protection is a comprehensive suite of Toyota Safety Sense technologies and other active and passive safety features.

In the new HiAce, Toyota Safety Sense incorporates pre-collision safety system (PCS) with pedestrian detection (day and night) and cyclist detection (day only)1; lane departure alert; road sign assist (certain speed signs only); and automatic high beam.

Using camera and radar sensors, the PCS is designed to detect vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists and assists the driver with visual and audible warnings, braking assistance or autonomous emergency braking if the driver fails to heed the warning.

The lane departure alert1 function will warn the driver if the the system detects that the car has deviated from its lane with visual and audible alerts and if necessary, provide steering assistance via the braking system.

All HiAce models also feature a road sign assist1 system that is able to recognise speed limit signs and display them on the multi information display (MID) in the instrument cluster.

Other advanced safety technologies standard across the range include blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert and front and rear parking sensors.

All models also feature cruise control and a reversing camera with guide lines as standard that shows images on the large touchscreen display.

Providing the optimum occupant protection, HiAce Van models are fitted with seven airbags – driver and passenger front and side, front side curtain and driver kneebag with the Crew Van gaining an extra two rear side curtain airbags.

The HiAce Crew Van also offers ISOFIX child restraint anchor points in the two outboard rear seating positions.

To deliver excellent rear-vision under all conditions, the HiAce Crew Van and Commuter GL also feature an innovative auto-dimming digital rear view mirror.

If the internal view to the rear is obstructed by a load or other occupants, the driver can switch the mirror to digital mode to display wide-view images from the vehicle’s rear camera.

A built-in menu ensures the view can be adjusted for the such things as brightness, position and magnification.

POWERFUL NEW ENGINES DRIVE HIACE FURTHER FOR LESS

** New V6 petrol and turbodiesel engines provide substantial performance boost**
** Choice of smooth efficient six-speed manual and automatic transmissions **
** Stop start system for turbodiesel and advanced technology deliver low fuel consumption **

The all-new Toyota HiAce features new diesel and V6 petrol engines that offer commercial, business and private owners substantially improved performance, greater refinement and efficient fuel consumption.

Headlining the new powerplants is a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that is available in all long wheelbase (LWB) and super long wheelbase (SLWB) Vans, the Crew Van and Commuter models.

Although capacity has been slightly reduced from the previous unit’s 3.0-litres, the new common rail direct injection diesel engine generates up to 30kW and up to a massive 150Nm more power and torque than its predecessor.

In Van models, the new turbodiesel engine generates a maximum power of 130kW at 3400rpm, with a slightly different tune for Commuter models that offer 120kW at 3600rpm.

Peak torque outputs vary slightly based on whether the engine is mated to a manual or automatic transmission with the automatic van models providing 450Nm at 1600-2400rpm and manual van models with 420Nm at 1400-2600rpm.

The diesel engine in Commuter models delivers a peak torque of 420Nm at 1600-2200rpm.

In addition to the substantially increased power and torque, the advanced diesel engine delivers improved refinement and lower fuel consumption, that has been cut by up to 8.7 per cent.

Official combined cycle fuel consumption for LWB turbodiesel models has been reduced to 7.5l/100km1 for manual versions and 8.2l/100km1 for automatic models with 197g/km2 and 214g/km2 CO2 emissions respectively.

The automatic-only LWB Crew Van returns a combined fuel consumption figure of 8.4l/100km2 and 219g/km2 CO2 emissions while the turbodiesel SLWB van also offers the same fuel consumption of 8.4l/100km1 – down from 9.2l/100km1 in the previous generation - and CO2 emissions of 219g/km2.

To further enhance fuel efficiency, the turbodiesel engine is also fitted with a start & stop system that automatically cuts the engine when stopped at traffic lights or in heavy congestion.

In automatic models, the engine restarts as soon as the driver takes their foot off the brake pedal while manual models will restart when the clutch is depressed.

To reduce other emissions, the diesel HiAce models also feature a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) with a DPF switch to enable a manually activated burn if driving distances and speed do not reach the required temperature to activate the automatic burn.

In the LWB Van, the new engine is offered with a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions with the shift lever mounted high on the dash to provide efficient ergonomics and reduce driver fatigue.

The SLWB Van, Crew Van and Commuter models are offered exclusively with the automatic transmission.

The new automatic transmission has been designed with fuel efficiency, durability and low NVH in mind to ensure a refined operation and strong off the line performance.

Likewise, the six-speed manual gearbox features a direct drive fourth gear and double overdrive to deliver cruising fuel efficiency while the low ratio first and second gears provide strong acceleration from standstill.

The manual gearbox also offers an intelligent mode switch that provides rev matching on up and down shifts to deliver a smoother driving experience.

The new HiAce is also available with a new petrol engine in LWB and SLWB Van models.

The new 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine provides a huge increase in power and torque compared to the previous model’s four-cylinder unit with power boosted by 89kW to a maximum output of 207kW at 6000rpm. Peak torque jumps by 108Nm to 351Nm at 4600rpm.

The advanced new petrol engine features the latest technology including dual variable valve timing (VVT-iW) and D-4S direct and port fuel injection to deliver efficiency, performance and refinement in equal measure.

The petrol LWB van is available with a choice of two refined and efficient six-speed manual or automatic transmissions with the SLWB van exclusively automatic.

In manual LWB models, the combined cycle fuel consumption is 12.4l/100km1 with CO2 emissions of 283g/km2 while automatic versions of both LWB and SLWB variants use 12.0/100km1 and generate 275g/km2 of CO2 emissions.

New suspension, steering and a longer, wider platform for the all-new HiAce have delivered significant improvements in ride comfort, stability and handling.

By moving to a semi-bonneted design, both long wheelbase (LWB) and super long wheelbase (SLWB) models benefit from a substantially lengthened wheelbase that offers enhanced stability on the road at all speeds.

For LWB models, the wheelbase has been extended by 640mm to 3210mm with SLWB variants gaining an extra 750mm to a total of 3860mm.

To further improve ride and handling performance, front and rear tracks are also wider with both versions sharing a 1670mm front and rear track - an increase of 200mm at the front and 205mm at the rear for LWB models and 15mm at the front and 20mm at the rear in SLWB variants.

Underpinning the chassis is a new independent MacPherson strut front suspension and heavily revised solid axle rear suspension.

The front suspension geometry and components including dampers, coil springs and bushing have been designed to offer the optimum balance and consistency of ride comfort and handling across a wide variety of load possibilities.

The rear multi-stage leaf sprung suspension offers an increased leaf span, different spring rates for LWB and SLWB models specifically tuned for the different load requirements and dampers positioned on the outer sides of the leaf springs to deliver high levels of stability handling and ride comfort.

All HiAce models feature a newly developed hydraulic rack and pinion steering system with speed-sensitive power assistance that offers a responsive action and feedback at all speeds.

Despite the increased overall length of the new HiAce, the new steering system offers the same turning circle for SLWB models as its predecessor of 12.8m with the LWB variants offering a 11.0m turning circle.

Effective braking performance in the new HiAce is provided by 296mm ventilated discs with two-piston calipers at the front and single-piston caliper 320mm ventilated discs at the rear for all automatic models.

Both the petrol and turbodiesel manual transmission HiAce models use the same front brakes as automatic variants with 256mm drum brakes at the rear.

To enhance braking and stability performance, all models feature anti-lock braking with brake assist, vehicle stability and traction control, hill-start assist and trailer sway control.

The new HiAce is also fitted standard with an electronic Auto-LSD that simulates the action of a limited slip differential by applying braking force to slipping wheels thereby directing drive torque to the wheels with the most grip.

HIACE ACCESSORIES ENHANCE PROTECTION AND FUNCTIONALITY

**Toyota Genuine Accessories designed and developed specifically for new HiAce **
** All-new mesh and solid cargo barriers for internal protection **
** In-vehicle monitoring system pre-wire for cost effective fleet management **

With over 50 per cent of owners requiring a substantial fit-out or accessories for their HiAce vans, Toyota has developed an extensive range to cater to a broad customer base of commercial, business and private owners.

The vast range of Toyota Genuine Accessories has been developed and designed specifically for the all-new HiAce to meet rigorous safety, reliability, durability and quality standards and cater to a variety of needs including towing, cargo management, vehicle protection and driver assistance.

The newly developed tow bar with new optional rear corner protectors was designed in conjunction with the vehicle chassis to ensure high levels of strength and durability with a double coated finish to provide superior corrosion resistance.

Braked towing capacity1 for the manual LWB turbo diesel van is 1900kg and 1400kg for the manual LWB petrol van with all other models in the HiAce range offering a braked towing capacity of 1500kg.

A new zinc-plated steel mesh rear step is available in two versions to integrate with the rear of the vehicle depending on whether the tow bar is fitted.

The rear step is a handy accessory to gain access to the roof where a roof rack offers a number of options for carrying a range of materials.

Toyota has also developed accessories for the interior of the load space to help protect the vehicle and occupants when transporting goods.

New for this generation HiAce is a steel solid partition with an integrated window that allows full separation between the cabin and load space, not only providing protection, but also improving air-conditioning effectiveness.

Also new is a full internal protection system that offers a wire mesh cargo barrier between the load space and cabin along with easily fitted and removed interior wall, and mesh window, protectors.

Another new accessory is the easy-to-use interior ladder rack that has been designed to store a variety of commonly used ladders up to 20kg.

Mounted to the inside of the roof, it provides secure storage and frees up space on the roof racks to carry other items.

Vehicle protection has been a big focus in the development of accessories with an all-new alloy nudge bar available that offers a new design that melds seamlessly with the new generation HiAce styling.

A four-point mounting system ensures durability and airbag compatibility, the option of black powder coating helps reduce maintenance and high-strength alloy construction provides effective impact resistance.

Other external protection accessories include headlamp covers and bonnet protector while inside new heavy-duty canvas seat covers to protect the seat upholstery are available along with floor and cargo mats.

In addition to protective accessories, Toyota has developed a range of driver assistance accessories including a new dash camera and reversing buzzer.

For fleets wanting to install in-vehicle monitoring systems that log information such as speed and whether the driver's seat belt is engaged or the driver's door is open or closed, Toyota has also developed a pre-wire system to enable easy and cost effective installation of such systems.

All Toyota Genuine Accessories purchased and fitted to a HiAce are covered by Toyota's extensive factory-backed Toyota Warranty Advantage2.

FIVE GENERATIONS OF HIACE MAKE IT A GLOBAL SUCCESS

** More than 330,000 HiAce sold since launched in Australia in 1968 **
** Quality, durability and large load space find favour with commercial customers **
** More than 6.3 million sold globally across five generations in 150 countries **

For over 50 years, the Toyota HiAce has been the go-to commercial vehicle for transporting people and goods.

Here in Australia more than 330,000 have been sold since the first generation model landed in 1968 with over 6.3 million sold globally across five generations.

Designed and developed in line with Japanese government regulations at the time, the original HiAce was offered in van and eight-seat commuter variants and was powered by a choice of 1.5 and 1.6-litre petrol engines that drove the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox.

The cab-over-engine van style quickly gained favour among commercial and business users thanks to its durability, reliability and large load space and 10 years later, the second generation HiAce was introduced.

Catering to a growing customer base, Toyota extended the range to include short and long wheelbase models, a new 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine and larger capacity petrol engine. The long wheelbase commuter model had capacity for 15 passengers and internationally, there was even a double cab pickup model on offer.

In 1982, the third generation HiAce arrived with more turbodiesel engine options and a new four-speed automatic transmission before Toyota updated the HiAce again in 1989 with the fourth generation.

This model brought with it larger turbodiesel and petrol engines and Toyota's first semi-bonnetted variant that was sold here exclusively with a 2.4-litre petrol engine in SWB and LWB versions.

The fifth generation HiAce was launched in 2004 with a large range of LWB and SLWB vans and commuter models and a choice of 3.0-litre turbodiesel and 2.7-litre petrol engines.

With an enduring reputation for reliability and durability, the fifth generation HiAce commanded over 20 per cent share of the Australian van market from the start and for its final full year on sale in 2018, that had risen to over 30 per cent with over nine and a half thousand HiAce vans and commuters sold across Australia.
