TOYOTA 4WD CARRIES HERTZ’ NEW CAMPERVAN
Hertz Campervans Australia has launched a new four-wheel drive rental campervan based on the Toyota HiLux 3.0 litre diesel cab-chassis.
The new purpose-built Hertz Safari 4WD Campervan is aimed at people in the adventure market seeking the freedom offered by a quality four-wheel drive platform and the comforts of fully fitted out campervan.
The vehicle incorporates lessons learned with the successful Hertz Safari, based on the Toyota TroopCarrier.
“The popularity of remote drive holidays is increasing,” said David Pollard, Hertz Campervans Australia and New Zealand CEO.
“There is a growing demand from overseas travelers for a vehicle that provides high levels of space, comfort and luxury.
“Finding the right four-wheel drive campervan was difficult, so we decided to build our own.”
Hertz Campervans designed the new Safari range in conjunction with Toyota Australia and conversion company Safari Campervans using the Toyota HiLux diesel cab-chassis as the platform.
“The HiLux range is noted for its tough, reliable ‘go anywhere, do anything’ capability,” Mr Pollard said.
“It was the ideal choice for our holidaymaker market who seek out new touring and soft adventure experiences.”
Tests of the vehicle were conducted in conjunction with the South Australian Road Traffic board.
The Hertz campervan passed major tests in the areas of load bearing/strength, vibration, aerodynamics, metal fatigue and road holding.
The body is removable for re-sale purposes.
The Hertz Safari Campervan features reverse cycle air-conditioning, sink, refrigerator, gas stove/griller and microwave oven.
All Hertz 4WD campervans are fitted with an emergency satellite beacon.
The new vehicles are available from any of the nine Hertz Campervan locations throughout mainland Australia.
