EXPANDING PACKAGING COMPANY CHOOSES TOYOTA FORKLIFT
A fast growing packaging company has chosen a Toyota battery electric forklift for the pivotal production role of feeding its slitting machine.
Austral Packaging Services commissioned the 2.5-tonne payload Toyota 7FB25 machine in September 2000 at its Blacktown factory in Sydney.
It feeds craft rolls to the slitting machine and off-loads the machine.
Austral Packaging Services founder and managing director Mr Karo Massih said he bought the state-of-the-art Toyota machine as a key part of his plans to grow the company.
"I bought a brand-new Toyota machine because I wanted reliability in the production process," he said.
"The 7FB25 had the environmental and workplace safety advantages of battery electric operation and stability control."
"Toyota has a name for sturdy, reliable equipment - which is what I needed to expand the business."
Austral Packaging is currently working a morning shift but is about to increase to two shifts per day.
Toyota's 7FB25 forklift is the company's newest machine and does the heaviest job.
The 7FB25 forklift is one of an extensive range of battery electric machines launched by Toyota in the second half of 1999.
The new forklift was supplied by Toyota Industrial Equipment dealer Mander Toyota, which has been selling and servicing Toyota forklifts since 1977.
Mander Toyota's head office is located at Chester Hill in Sydney, with branches in Cardiff, Queanbeyan, Orange, Coffs Harbour and South Lismore.
The 7FB25 has an alternating current (AC) motor system, an under-floor battery and Toyota's exclusive System of Active Stability (SAS).
The improved performance of the AC-motor Toyota 7-Series models rivals the traditional internal combustion (IC) machines.
The 7FB's under-floor battery contributes to a lower centre of gravity (and hence greater stability), a lower seat and a lower step height.
Toyota's SAS is a world-first system that monitors key forklift operations, detecting and counter-acting instability.
It therefore lowers the risk of forklift rollover and hence increases workplace safety.
Toyota is the only forklift manufacturer to offer its customers the SAS system.
Austral Packaging Services was founded in 1989 and has since amassed a wide range of experience in manufacturing from solid cardboard, paper and corrugated cardboard.
It is a supplier to major motor manufacturers, end users and re-sellers.
The packaging manufacturer sells the Garni brand and produces a range of corrugated boxes and single faces boxes.
