Toyota has increased its share of the Australian forklift truck market to gain number one position for a record 14th consecutive year.
Toyota has led sales in the Australian forklift market since 1987.

Its leading market share in industrial equipment in 2000 came in the same year that the company achieved its highest ever sales volume in motor vehicles.

Toyota has been Australian automotive sales leader six times in the last decade.

Toyota was the clear number one in forklifts in 2000, according to figures compiled by independent industry statistician the Australian Industrial Truck Association.

The company achieved 21.3 percent market penetration in the combined internal combustion and battery electric traditional forklift market in 2000.

Toyota's 2000 market share gave the company a clear market lead, almost five percentage points ahead of nearest rival Nissan and more than double the market share of third-placed Hyster.

The launch of Toyota's breakthrough 7-Series battery electric range was one of the highlights of the year, according to Toyota Industrial Equipment senior manager Steve Harper.

~The 7-Series brought breakthrough performance and safety features to the battery electric market - and this was reflected in its sales performance, ~ he said.

~In conjunction with our internal combustion models, they represented a Toyota Forklift range that offered outstanding reliability, technology and value to our customers.

Toyota achieved 21.9 percent share in the high volume 0.9 to 16.0 tonne internal combustion market in 2000.

Its 900-3000 kilogram payload 7FG/FD 15 to 7FG/FD30 models were Australia's highest sellers, with a combined 1069 deliveries.
