TOYOTA FINANCE DONATES EIGHT VEHICLES TO CSIRO RESEARCH
Toyota Financial Services has donated eight Toyota vehicles to the CSIRO.
CSIRO divisions, especially CSIRO Land and Water, will use the vehicles throughout Australia.
The goodwill gesture includes five Toyota Prius petrol/electric hybrids and three Toyota Prado 4x4 wagons.
CSIRO Land and Water Division chief Dr John Williams recently accepted the first Prius and Prado from Toyota Financial Services managing director, Ross Springer.
“I congratulate Toyota Financial Services, a company founded and pioneered in Australia, for its support of CSIRO’s robust scientific management of the environment,” Dr Williams said.
“It is my view that Australia’s environmental challenges will be best met by partnerships like this between science, industry and community.”
CSIRO Land and Water research focuses on improving water allocation and quality, supporting urban water reuse, delivering sustainable land use options and managing environmental contaminants.
In its quest to develop innovative solutions to land and water management challenges such as salinity and efficient water use, CSIRO works with a wide range of public and private organisations.
Toyota Motor Corporation announced its “2010 Global Vision” in April 2002 - a program it will develop during the first half of the 21st century.
The first priority is the promotion of a “recycle-oriented society” with a target of making Toyota vehicles 95 percent recyclable by 2015.
Already, the latest Australian-built Camry's improved recyclability includes new locally supplied bumpers that meet the specifications of the fully recyclable Toyota Super Olefin Polymer.
“Toyota is at the forefront of the automotive industry’s worldwide push towards environmentally sustainable manufacturing processes and community-based environmental programs,” said Toyota Financial Services managing director, Ross Springer.
“Toyota Financial Service’s initiative to provide CSIRO with the eight Toyota vehicles is part of the process of forming partnerships to help improve our environment, and we hope it will continue long into the future.”
